About Salterra Farm
The “Salterra” name was inspired by the property itself - farmland by the sea. Our grazing pastures are situated in Piggabeen, just 10 kilometres from Coolangatta. Salterra Farm is owned and operated by the Sutcliffe and Hall Families.
In 2023, Ben and Mel Sutcliffe decided to make a lifestyle change, relocating from Brisbane to Piggabeen. Mel and Ben joined forces with Mel’s parents - Maree and David Hall and Salterra Farm was established. Mel and Ben have found a love for cattle farming whilst raising their two children Freddie and Knox out in the open air. David and Maree have embraced all things farm life and are an integral part of the team and daily operations.

What sets us apart from other cattle operations?

Mel, Ben, Maree and David are all based on the farm and oversee the day-to-day management of our cattle.

We are small-scale and run just under 100 head of cattle - allowing us to focus on the care and management of each animal.

We are passionate about animal welfare on the farm, ensuring optimal nutrition, vet care as required and treatments / vaccinations are up to date.

All of our Wagyu cattle are Fullblood with records of lineage confirmed through genetic testing ensuring traceability.

We identify Fullblood Wagyu bulls with strong genetics and take a tailored approach to our breeding program to strive for the best progeny.

We are first-generation farmers with a focus on moving towards sustainable and innovative practices.
